3 Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James, the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus;[a] 4 Simon the Cananaean[b] and Judas Iscariot, who later[c] betrayed Jesus.[d]

5 These were the Twelve whom Jesus sent out after he had given them these[e] instructions: “Don’t turn on to the road that leads to the unbelievers,[f] and don’t enter Samaritan towns.
